FUNCTIONS


1.     Preparation of long and short-term action plans essential to achieving the aims of
        the law:

a.       to reinforce road safety;

b.       to reduce the number of road crashes and diminish their severity;

c.       to address crash prevention education, road traffic law enforcement and traffic violator punishment.

2.        Implementation of action plans, and the operating of a framework of supervision and follow-up in government ministries and bodies partner in executing the plans.

3.        Determining priority ranking, precedence and scope with regard to allocating the budget needed to achieve the aims of the law.

4.        Determining rules for allocation of funds to the various bodies operating in the field of road safety.

5.        Determining directives and proposals for standardizing the implementation of action plans, through inter-ministerial professional committees appointed by the Minister.

6.        Initiation, integration and coordination of policies for encouraging activities by groups and individuals in their fight against road crashes.

7.        Planning and promotion of media information programs on the fight against road crashes.

8.       Presentation of a quarterly general progress report on the implementation of the one-year action plan to the Government, through the Minister.
